Linux live CD The beauty of a live CD is the ability to carry your favorite desktop around in your pocket, so no matter where you might be, as long as you have access to a PC with a CDROM you can use your desktop of choice. The CD runs from the same Linux kernel that the production distro does, and contains most of the same software, including OpenOffice.org 1.1.1.

Description: System Rescue CD is a linux system on a bootable cdrom for repairing your system and your data after a crash. It also aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk. It contains a lot of system utilities (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic ones (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It aims to be very easy to use: just boot from the cdrom, and you can do everything. The kernel of the system supports most important file systems (ext2/ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660), and network ones (samba and nfs).

System Rescue CD is a Linux system available from a bootable CDROM that provides an easy way to perform administrative tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk or backing up data. It contains a lot of system utilities (such as parted, partimage, and fstools) and basic utilities (such as editors, midnight commander, and network tools). It provides QtParted, a PartitionMagic clone that has a very nice graphical user interface.

Here are the main system tools:

• GNU Parted is the best tool for editing your disk partitions under linux
• QtParted is a Partition Magic clone for Linux.
• Partimage is a Ghost/Drive-image clone for Linux
• File systems tools (e2fsprogs, reiserfsprogs, xfsprogs, jfsutils, ntfsprogs, dosfstools): they allow you to format, resize, debug an existing partition of your hard disk
• Sfdisk allows you to backup and restore your partition table

Now, the eagle driver is also provided. This is the driver required by several Modems, especially the SagemFast800 Adsl modem. It has been tested, and we can connect to the internet from the CDRom with this driver. Many french users really need it. I added a script (eagle-config) that makes adsl configuration and connection very easy.

System Rescue CD is available for blind people. Now, the linux speakup version 1.5 screen reader is working well, and the speakup keymap is installed.
