Parallel LapLink CableThe cable described below can be used to connect two PCs, to let them communicate via the application program LapLink™. It's recommended that you set up your parallel ports to either EPP or EPP/ECP mode for use with this cable. To build this cable, you'll need a shielded cable with at least 15 conductors, and two DB-25 male connectors.
It is suggested that you attach the drain wire of the shield of your cable to the shield of the DB-25 connector. Note - There are a number of cable diagrams for LapLink parallel cables on the web, many of which are contradictory. The above chart matches the pin out of a LapLink parallel cable measured by me. The cable was from a 1996 version of LapLink for Windows. One reader (Joakim R. Perrine) did just that, and has reported that the above set of pin outs don't work for Windows 95's Direct Cable Connection program (DCC), but that a cable built as described in the following table does. To build this cable, you'll need a shielded cable with at least 17 conductors, and two DB-25 male connectors.
It is suggested that you attach the drain wire of the shield of your cable to the shield of the DB-25 connector. |
